Omega-3′s play an extremely important part in your own wellness.
Omega-3 fatty acids can lower your cholesterol, reduce high blood pressure, protect you from heart attacks, ease joint pains, fight wrinkles and skin ailments, and improve your memory.
Omega-3 fatty acids are a collection of polyunsaturated fatty acids that found in fish and in plants. Do not get this mixed up with the saturated fats you find in foods such as meat and butter which can raise the level of you cholesterol to an unhealthy point. These polyunsaturated fats do quite the opposite, they help reduce your cholesterol levels and also reduce inflammation throughout the body.
Polyunsaturated fats are called essential fatty acids because our own bodies do not produce them, that is why it is very important for us to take responsibility for our own bodies and make sure that we are intaking foods that contain the essential fatty acids. You can find omega-3 fatty acids in many different sources of foods; flax seed, walnuts, soybeans, but fish like salmon, tuna and herring seem to be the best source. When intaking certain fish, make sure that you do not overdo it because they may contain high quantities of mercury. You can also find supplements for omega-3 fatty acids.
Be conscious of the foods you eat and which ones will enhance your health, it is the easiest first step towards your own wellcare!
